        The special properties of brushes come from the almost infinite variety of materials that can make up the final product. Specialized brushes can be designed and formed to solve specific problems. In the case of strip brushes, the core wire, metal substrate or channel, and filament can all be changed to meet specific needs. Additionally, we offer flexible brushes without metal parts. With staple brushes, the configuration of substrate and filament (or bristles) will produce different results.

         Strip brush channel material can range in size from small (less than 0.095 inches wide) to large (more than 0.5 inches wide). As the channel size increases, so does the physical strength, and the ability to make larger diameter, longer brushes out of filament material, and put more filament material into the brush to make it denser. The base material of a staple brush can be made of wood, steel, polymer, or other materials. The best substrate will depend on where and how the brush is used.

         A range of filament materials are available for staple brushes and strip brushes. Filament materials all have different properties, providing brushes with different characteristics. Synthetic filaments, such as nylon, polypropylene, and polyester, each have different stiffness, absorbency, heat/cold resistance, and chemical resistance properties in a wide range of diameters. In addition, metal filaments and natural filaments, such as horse hair and plant fibers, have their own unique properties. All of these fibers can be trimmed to different lengths to further provide variations in stiffness and other properties. And, brushes can have more or fewer filaments to control density, stiffness, etc.

        In addition to nearly infinite variations in size and physical properties, brushes can be formed into almost any shape - spirals, coils, arcs, rectangles, circles and other configurations of bar brushes. Staple set brushes can take the form of discs, blocks, cylinders, and other special shapes.
